Pike St. Market..
After a good walk from capitol hill to pike street market, we first stopped at the Russian bakery "Piroshky, Piroshky" for some nourishment (and because it's one of Keith's new favorite foods). We are assuming that the name piroshky comes from a mix between a pirogi and a knish...?

We then stopped in at Market Spice so Brian could pick up some Matcha Green Tea. Matcha (抹茶) is a fine, powdered green tea, used particularly in Japanese tea ceremony. More info about Matcha's production and history at Wikipedia.

Before heading back up the hill, we checked out the local farm and produce stands, and picked up some purple and gold fingerling potatoes to roast for dinner!

Have you noticed this blog focuses mainly on food!!!!! It makes me hungry every time I look at it........Mom
let me know how the purple potatos cook up and how they taste. we are thinking of using them in a recipe for a dinner party in october.
Matcha green tea is one of my faves! I like to flavor it up with red peppers and onions sometimes.
Ashley, we roasted them with just olive oil and garlic (our spice collection is a little weak right now, but is slowly growing thanks to the co-ops bulk spices) and they were delicious! We definitely recommend using them.
